About

A scientist at the interface of electrochemistry and mass spectrometry

Predicting how today's chemicals behave in the environment of tomorrow.

Dr. Ranil Clément TONLEU TEMGOUA in the laboratory

Dr. Ranil Clément TONLEU TEMGOUA is an analytical chemist specializing in electroanalysis and mass spectrometry, currently a Research Associate at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon and the Universität der Bundeswehr Hamburg (Germany). His research simulates the environmental degradation of organic contaminants — pesticides and emerging pollutants — by coupling electrochemistry with high-resolution mass spectrometry and DFT calculations, to predict transformation products before they reach the environment.

A Humboldt Fellow and winner of Shimadzu's Lab4You international competition, he has held research and teaching positions across Cameroon, France, Spain, Czechia and Germany, and has co-authored 25 peer-reviewed publications, 4 invited book chapters and 2 scientific magazine articles (≈ 557 citations, h-index 13).

He is also deeply committed to building African research capacity: as head of the analytical chemistry laboratory of the YaBiNaPA DAAD graduate school, as an external research advisor at the University of Dschang (RUNOCHEE), and as a mentor for young scientists in Cameroon and beyond.
